Bio-Polymers

The use of biopolymers is driven by a combination of environmental, economic, and functional factors that distinguish them from conventional synthetic polymers. Traditionally biopolymers are expensive and show poor mechanical properties.

The TerraCraft FG1000 series offers unrivalled heat resistance whilst retaining impressive environmental credentials. The FG family of products offer a higher temperature stability whilst being 100% biodegradable and compostable.

Magnolia is continually developing this range of heat stable products. The latest addition to the FG 1000 family is FGX 1092 : a fiber-reinforced grade, designed specifically to produce stiff and strong injection-molded parts.

Products - All Terracraft products are FDA food contact compliant

Terracraft FG 1090 - Injection

This is our high temperature resistant resin. With a softening point of 115°C, some 40–50°C higher than competitive bioplastics, Terracraft FG1090 is the perfect choice for food service and electronics applications.

Terracraft FG 1060 - Extrusion

The right choice for high temperature resistant sheet extrusion and thermoforming applications. Proven to be stiffer than oil-based PS, allowing the convertor to down gauge without affecting mechanical properties or functionality.

Terracraft FGX 1092 - Injection

The latest addition to the FG 1000 range. FGX 1092 is a biodegradable and compostable polymer grade. Industrially compostable with a potential to certify to 3.2mm (according to ASTM D6400 and EN13432 standards, certified thickness will be dependent on geometry of application). This reinforced polymer made from our FRT (Fiber Reinforced Technology) process which produces strong, rigid parts. Offers a Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) of 85°C/185°F without the need for in-mold or post-mold treatment. FGX 1092 has a temperature resistance of 130°C (266°F)

*VICAT (A) measures the temperature at which the surface of a test sample starts to soften significantly. Vicat-A Test method ISO306.
